Dr. Robert Galvin
Director of Health

Dr.
Robert Galvin is the Executive Director of Health Services and Chief
Medical Officer for General Electric (GE). He is in charge of the
design and performance of GE’s health programs, totaling over $3
billion annually, and oversees the 1 million patient encounters that
take place in GE’s 175 medical clinics in 20 countries. He also
leads health policy for the company. He is a nationally recognized
leader in the areas of market-based health policy and financing,
quality measurement and public reporting and payment reform.
Dr. Galvin is on the Institute of Medicine (IOM) Board on Health Care
Services and has served on numerous IOM committees. He is a member of
the National Advisory Council for Healthcare Research and Quality,
which provides advice and recommendations to the Director, Agency for
Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ), and to the Secretary,
Department of Health and Human Services, on priorities for a national
health services research agenda. He is also on the Defense Health
Board. He is a cofounder of the Leapfrog Group and the founder of
Bridges to Excellence, one of the first pay-for-performance
initiatives. He recently founded the Center for Payment Reform, a
non-profit organization representing consumers and payers that focuses
solely on issues around payment.
Dr. Galvin is Professor Adjunct of Medicine and Health Policy at Yale,
and his work has been published in the New England Journal of Medicine
and Health Affairs.
Dr Galvin's work has received awards from the National Business Group
on Health, the National Healthcare Purchasing Institute and the
National Coalition for Cancer Survivorship. He is a fellow of the
American College of Physicians.

Dr. Gail Wilensky
Economist

Gail
Wilensky is an economist and a senior fellow at project HOPE, an
international health foundation. Dr. Wilensky serves as a trustee of
the Combined Benefits Fund of the United Mine Workers of America and
the National Opinion Research Center, is on the Board of Regents of the
Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences (USUHS) and the
Visiting Committee of the Harvard Medical and Dental Schools. She
recently served as president of the Defense Health Board, a Federal
advisory to the Secretary of Defense, was a commissioner on the World
Health Organization’s Commission on the Social Determinants of
Health and co-chaired the Dept. of Defense Task Force on the Future of
Military Health Care. She is an elected member of the Institute of
Medicine and has served two terms on its governing council. She is a
former chair of the board of directors of Academy Health, a former
trustee of the American Heart Association and a current or former
director of numerous other non-profit organizations. She is also a
director on several corporate boards.
Dr. Wilensky testifies frequently before Congressional committees,
serves as an advisor to members of Congress and other elected
officials, speaks nationally and internationally before professional,
business and consumer groups. She received a bachelor’s degree in
psychology and a Ph.D. in economics at the University of Michigan and
has received several honorary degrees
